Griseofulvin is an antifungal medicine used to treat fungal infections of the skin, hair and nails. Griseofulvin prevents fungal cells from infecting new keratin that grows. The infection clears up as the infected keratin dies and is shed from the body, leaving the new healthy keratin. This can take a few weeks for skin infections, to up to a year for toenails.Â
